“The harsh reality is that sometimes love is not enough.”

Rooted in a flashback to Alice’s dull family life, a plot that manages to be boring despite all the drama surrounding Alice’s miraculous return from Wonderland, is a shout out to the classic Alice and what that tale was all about — drugs. From the laudanum ingesting psychiatrist to the euphoria inducing forest to the perpetually trippy CGI, this watered down, Aladdin crossover version finally bares some resemblance to the beloved story of old. It’s about time!
Will & Alice B & C

After having been freed from that statue, Will sets off on his way to find Alice, which proves to be an easier task than finding Cyrus. It only takes him about ten minutes before he’s reunited with A again. Luckily, he get’s to her in time to recuse her from becoming a permanent fixture in a spooky forest where the trees are made of extremely high and happy people.
Alice on the other hand spends most of this episode high as a kite, which reduces her storyline to one that just features her smiling blissfully and picking flowers. Will manages to break her out of it before the concept started to lose its steam and I started to lose my interest.
This part of the episode closed with the revelation that Will’s heart is not in his chest, I wonder if Cora’s rumored return to Wonderland will delve deeper into that revelation.
Crazy J C
In my last recap I made the prediction that the “mysterious” other person that hold’s Alice’s love and affections is her father and this week revealed just that. Surprise, surprise, I was right. The show is so predictable that I wonder why they bother with the attempted mystery at all.
Although Crazy J’s screen time was short, he does pay a visit to Alice’s old psychiatrist. In an attempt to shake the poor doctor into pointing him in Alice’s dad’s direction, Crazy J pulls the demonic rabbit out of his box and holds it up in front of the man. It was cruel. Upon look at Demonic Rabbit again, the doctor made this face:
...which I’m sure was the same look I had on my face the first time that I saw it too.
Cyrus F
Cyrus has a face that I really want to love. And there’s a certain charm about him too, which I’ve mentioned in earlier recaps. Somehow, despite his good looks and reasonable charisma, Cyrus is still lacking something and I’m finding it really hard to care about his character. He’s giving me so little to go on that I can’t even hate him. I know there isn’t much Cyrus can do about being a dully written character, but can he at least pout his lips every so often, or something like that, just to give me something to go on?
Fish Lips D-
Speaking of people who pout their lips, Fish Lips has had an entire episode dedicated to her backstory, and I’m still not sure what she wants. Yes, she wants power and money, but doesn’t she have that already? Why does she need the Genie? Why is she traipsing around in her tight red dress, pouting her lips while trying desperately to help keep Jafar’s prisoners in line? But most of all, how does she have magic?
Her plotline this week revolved around her running around a floating island trying to bring Cyrus back. And although she had limited screen time, it was enough time for her to give us a hell of a lip pout.
Lip Pout of the Week
"Who’s Alice"A+
Despite being an episode that featured flashbacks of events that we really didn’t need to dedicate a whole episode to, "Who's Alice" has been the most Alice in Wonderland-like episode this show has had so far. It looks like the show has finally figured out how to capture the Wonderland vibe by stepping away from their usual technique of having giant Styrofoam mushrooms planted in a wooded area that looks like Somewhere, USA. Finally, they zoned in on the creepiness that is the Wonderland that we all know and love from the original story. The forest of human trees was unsettling and weird and a little trippy which is everything Wonderland should be!
Extra Credit
- If the rumors are true, it looks like Cora will be dropping in for a visit in Wonderland.
- Limited use of CGI this episode made the whole thing a lot less difficult to watch.
Demerits
- The show continues to be predictable.
