“Looking back, it’s easy to see when a mistake has been made… to regret a choice that seemed like a decent idea at the time. But if we used our best judgement and listened to our hearts, we are more likely to see that we chose wisely, and avoided the deepest, most painful regret of them all – the regret that comes from letting something amazing pass you by.”

GA

While the Olympics have come and gone, we’re trading gold medals for gold stars this week as we recap the fallout from Kepner’s wedding, after Jackson dropped a major grenade in the nuptials.

Guys, this episode had everything: runaway brides, a human cat, and a salacious new lawsuit. While that may read more like a line from SNL’s Stefon, I assure you it was most definitely this week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy. We can all exhale because #TeamJackson prevailed. You have to give credit where credit is due, because while we knew Kepner would choose Jackson, we could have never foreseen that they already tied the knot, in the same wedding dress no less. That’s Shonda for you. She gives you what you want, and then makes you throw it on the ground to reach for the gift you never realized you needed.

In other news, Callie and Arizona buy a house, the twisted sisters are reunited, and Alex loses his father. Let’s cut right to the grades, shall we?

April & Avery

A+ & A+#TeamJackson for the win. It was a brilliant decision that we couldn’t hear April's initial runaway bride freakout in the car, but it’s not cool to suck face right outside the church... that’s not classy and you’re just asking to get smote. It was a SERIOUS missed opportunity not to have Steph and Matthew looking on. More on that later.

April, you left. I can accept this decision for the sole fact that you and Jackson are each other’s endgame, each other's house of candles. I understand you need some time to collect yourself, but don’t make a habit of running away. You ran away from Seattle and your destiny once and fought your way back. Most people don’t get second chances.

GAGA

Full disclosure: I almost failed her after realizing she married Jackson in a used dress. After almost putting her in my burn book, I came around to the notion that even though she couldn’t choose the perfect guy at first, she did choose the perfect dress. Fuller disclosure: I watched the last 45 seconds of their marriage proposal standing atop my couch, jaw on the floor.

Do we think Jackson did kind of plan this, because he did “know” how far Lake Tahoe was… discuss in the comments below.

Steph

A+

GAWhere was this shot, Shonda?

Can we talk about how it took 5 entire minutes to show Steph's face? We even got to check in on Alex’s dad before we got to see Jackson “McDreamboat” Avery’s cast aside leftovers. The fact that she still looked like a million dollars in that blue dress (eye makeup still intact) just goes to show what a damn fine surgeon this woman will become. I want NOTHING but good things for her for the remainder of the season. You hear me writers? Ross, you may turn over all of your dialogue and plots to her and see yourself out of the hospital. Seriously, I’m not kidding, 007. Not only does she stay calm and collected but she takes three weeks off to pull herself together, and not murder any patients...

I’m all for a brave face, but the strength she and Murphy found in the stairwell after Steph finally broke down was a revelation. Sloan Grey Memorial Hospital has always been a hotbed for hookups between doctors, remember the pilot anyone? These two women could actually take down the hospital between what Drs Avery and Robbins have done. Just saying, this could be one interesting lawsuit. I don’t know who to root for, so help me out in the comments. #Interns or #Residents?

Murphy

CYou found out your friend was left at the altar and literally walked away from her without saying anything. Thankfully you made up for it by confronting Avery in the OR, since that probably wasn’t the best location I gave her a passing grade.

Derek

A

“The nicer I am, the guiltier he feels.” - Mer

New rule, ya’ll. You have to drink every time someone says "president."

Since there’s a ferryboat outside of his business lunch, you initially think, this is going to go well. That has to be a good sign, right? Politicians like the president have to vet people before they’re tapped for important roles within the government, right? #PalinProblems. Real talk -- of course McDreamy doesn’t have a McDarkside. His shadow is constantly combing his hair… that’s how it stays so perfect. All jokes aside, it’s noble that Derek has helped care for his old classmate for over 30 years. Meredith aptly points out this friend may have been his catalyst to become a neurosurgeon and save lives in the first place. Meredith may have a life in politics, too, with the spin she put on that. Claire Underwood better watch her man.

Meredith

A

“I have no room to be angry here, but this is infuriating.”

It’s like the writers have finally come around to the fact that Cristina has a handful of episodes left and they simply cannot let her depart with the twisted sisters torn apart. The quick scene between them in the OR discussing the President’s interest in Derek is what I’ve waited for all season. As brief as it was, it was one of my favorite moments in the entire episode. Cristina and Meredith vowed to be each others' person years ago – long before Derek’s post-it – so I’m glad they’ve found their way back to each other. While Mer didn’t have much to do in the episode besides make Derek sweat a bit before breaking his promise to take a step from work to raise the kids, she was doing the damn thing: comforting Alex, reuniting with Cristina, and printing portal veins. I do think she’d make a killer politician’s wife, but one that cures Alzheimer's.

"How was I supposed to pretend what just happened wasn’t the coolest thing I’ve ever seen… I’m not just a friend, I’m a fan."

The Twisted Sisters are back, and Yang is off #TeamRoss. Gold stars for everyone. #DanceItOut

Dr. Ross

F

“Moving forward make more good ones…” -- Cristina

Ross was suspended after he literally “hacked” up Alex’s father’s heart. I cannot even begin to understand how they let him back in this hospital, but then I think back to Izzie Steven’s LVAD escapades and remember it’s kind of the norm. Note to self: think twice about teaching hospitals. I cannot even fathom what were he was doing for three weeks? It certainly wasn’t studying. I get that you probably shame slept for a couple of days after almost killing your coworker’s father, but it is beyond me why he wasn’t trying to spend that time trying to improve himself or actually memorizing those old Anatomy and Physiology texts from high school. Come on, bro. You don’t have to be a doctor. No one’s forcing you. In fact most people are in support of ousting you, so either get it together or get to stepping.

Owen

AI have to give him high marks for anticipating when Dr. 007 Ross would return to the hospital and insist that he shadow the trauma doctor for the day. Finally, someone’s watching the interns again. If you don’t they start hacking up hearts and founding surgery/fight clubs. He also gets serious points for putting Webber (and apparently the board) in their place. Dr. Ross needs to be watched like a hawk. I cannot stand Webber’s accusations that he’s only tough on Ross because his past with Cristina. That was low.

Callie & Arizona

B & BArizona, this is not about you. Put the damn presents in the car and stop throwing conniption fits. I literally can’t with you sometimes.

Callie and Arizona bought a murder house. I just don’t have faith that this is going to work out well. Can we please have a haunted house episode, Shonda? I mean, the team from Ghost Hunters could come up and contract some crazy ectoplasm disease. Denny, Mousey and Mer’s mom can all visit with people in the elevator. It'll be legendary.

Bailey & Ben

A & B

“Things are topsy-turvy all over the place, and I don’t understand any of it."

Bailey is the one character who most often expresses the views of the audience. Things are crazy, even for Grey’s standards, what with the wedding and the president, so I just rejoice in the fact that at least one of the characters takes a moment to acknowledge it.

I have to give props to Shondaland on this. It was an excellent decision to have Ben give up his surgical residency for Bailey, rather than being kicked out of the program. For all intents and purposes he was a star, and he wants to be there to support Bailey and Tuck – Bailey, accept it. You found a great guy. Stop waiting for the other shoe to drop and allow yourself to be wooed. BTW, I’m a super fan of the Big Dogs club, and I think he and Webber should get shirts ASAP.

Alex & DBD

A & C

“… you son of a bitch.”

GA

I fully support and condone Alex socking Ross in the face. In that split second we saw the entire evolution of Alex, from rough and tumble wrestler to emotional pediatric resident. If there was any doubt about his transformation, one need look no further than the scene where his father passed away, and he basically willed the man into the light. He allowed the person that ruined his childhood (and questionably his life) to die with some dignity, and more importantly hope. Now that Alex can truly put his childhood behind him, he can finally become a legendary pediatric surgeon. I see big things for him on the horizon.

Jo

A

“As soon as I come over we’re going to drink a lot and burn things.”

I have to admit that I kind of like Jo now, and I kind of hate myself for it. She and Alex are accidentally engaged, and girlfriend starts punching out vending machines. #JoWatch I know it’s going to blow up in my face somehow, but her reaction to Steph quoted above is just perfect. That’s exactly what I would want my best friend to say if I was left at the altar left near the altar…

Medical Mystery of the Week: Catman

A+

ga

In an episode jam-packed with fallout from the wedding, I was expecting to get a standard/quick MM of the week, and I couldn’t have been more wrong. Hot off a tin roof or from a regional theatre casting call of CATS, a man gets rushed into the ER with full blown whiskers. I may not be allergic to housecats, but I’m definitely allergic to that. It took him 15 surgeries to become his “true self,” sadly once he realized that inner vision something was still missing. He tries to take one walk in all these years, and it ends in a cat-astrophe. I’m pretty sure we’ll be seeing him later, so lets paws this until later.

"Take It Back"

A

GA

Dare I say it, this season has finally hit it stride. Granted, it took quite some time to recover from the season premiere’s super storm not to mention the wedding really backed up all of the plots, but we’re finally there, guys.

A zero tolerance nookie policy has been instituted at Sloan Grey, and I give it three episodes. If Mark Sloan was still around it would have been like 30 minutes... This lawsuit is troubling to say the least. Everyone that’s gotten their freak on in the on-call room should be worried.

Extra Credit

  • Brilliant Grey’s title sequence with the woodlands background music for effect.
  • Mer has never looked better. I’m just saying that bun in the opening sequence was pretty flawless. That’s all.
  • "She was left near the altar."
  • "I told them you were dead."
  • "The cat man… the cat got out."
  • That hug between Alex and Meredith was everything.
  • Bailey immediately knowing that Ben didn’t eat her lunch. That dinosaur was totally for him.
  • Arizona’s reaction to the cat guy in the pediatrics ward was sidesplitting, kneeslapping good.
    GA
  • “He can’t come to the phone right now. He’s fighting with his wife.”
    “Who is it?”
    “It’s the White House.”
  • GA

Demerit

  • April, who says "pull over the car?" It’s either pull over or pull the car over. There are no other options. I’ll let it slide because you just became a runaway bride and all.
  • Why does Ben use the same locker room as the interns?
  • NO MATTHEW? WTF? He gets left at the altar and not a single person mentioned him. Oversight of the century. Um, he’s a paramedic, so I’m just calling this now: he’s going to burn down that hospital, and save everyone but the Averys.

Who're you siding with in the sexual harassment lawsuit?
